How you recognise it
A smart rule that works with the position of the sun reacts at the wrong time or with the wrong slat angle:
- Blinds adjustment according to sun lowers, raises or tilts the blinds too early or too late
- The slat angle does not match how high the sun is
- A facade stops being shaded before the sun has left it
- Actions of the Scheduler tied to sunrise or sunset, or the Presence simulation, run at times that do not fit your house
Cause
The control unit calculates the height and direction of the sun from the GPS position of the location (Latitude and Longitude). A new location starts with the default position 48.208579 / 16.374124, which is Vienna, Austria. If nobody changes it, every sun calculation runs for Vienna instead of your house. The latitude shifts the height of the sun (about 1° of latitude is 1° of sun elevation), the longitude shifts the time (1° is about 4 minutes).
Solution
Step 1: Check the GPS position of the location
Admin home owner
In the appSettings → My location → Attributes
Open Settings → My location and in the Attributes section look at Latitude and Longitude. If they show 48.208579 and 16.374124, the location still uses the default Vienna position.
Check the location before you tune slat angles or the sun elevation tables in the service settings of the blinds. With the wrong location you would tune them for a different place.
Step 2: Enter the coordinates of your house
Admin home owner
In the appSettings → My location → Attributes
Set Latitude and Longitude to the coordinates of your building in decimal degrees, for example taken from a map application.
If it still does not work
- In the same Attributes section, check that the Time zone matches your location
- Check that the time of the control unit is correct — with an internet connection it is set automatically
- Check the slat angle settings of the blind as described in Blinds Adjustment According to Sun
