Sun-tracking settings for Packet Parser shutters

Roller shutters and awnings connected through Packet Parser templates would get the same Sun orientation settings as shutters on TapHome modules, so the smart rule Blinds adjustment according to sun can move them by the sun.

Why and how you would use it

The smart rule Blinds adjustment according to sun needs the window of each blind: its direction, offsets, height and distance from the floor, set under Sun orientation in the service settings. Roller shutters and awnings connected through Packet Parser, for example from a template, do not have these settings. You can add such a shutter to the smart rule, but it then stays where it is.

What will be possible

We are evaluating this idea. Nothing is scheduled yet.

  • Sun orientation for Packet Parser shutters. Shutters without slats created through Packet Parser, also from a template, would get the same Sun orientation settings as shutters on TapHome modules, and the sun smart rule would move them.

What will not be possible

  • Slat angle on a shutter without slats. Such a shutter only gets a position.
  • More precision than the device gives. The position still comes from the template’s scripts.

How to solve it today

  • Blind device with slats. Packet Parser blinds with slats already have the Sun orientation settings. Use one if the template offers it and your hardware supports it.
  • TapHome module output. A shutter wired to a TapHome blinds module has all sun settings.
