Air conditioning (9)
Control power, operation mode, temperature setpoint, fan speed, and airflow direction across split, multi-split, VRV, and fan coil units. Most air conditioning systems connect via Modbus through a dedicated gateway adapter (Daikin EKMBPP1, Samsung MIM-B19N, Gree Modbus Gateway), while some have a Modbus interface built directly into the indoor unit. Depending on the model, additional capabilities include Smart Grid energy management, Wind-Free mode, sleep schedules, and absence mode.

Air recovery (18)
Control ventilation speed and operating modes (Away, Boost, Fireplace, Auto), adjust temperature setpoints, and manage bypass damper position. Units connect via Modbus RTU over RS-485 or Modbus TCP over Ethernet — most directly without extra hardware, some through a gateway such as the Zehnder ComfoConnect PRO. On units with appropriate sensors, TapHome also monitors indoor humidity, CO2 levels, and filter status for demand-based ventilation control.

Boilers connect to TapHome through protocol-bridging gateways — an OpenTherm-to-Modbus converter for OpenTherm-based boilers, or a LON-to-Modbus gateway for systems with a LON bus. TapHome reads supply and return temperatures, DHW temperature, outdoor temperature, water pressure, and burner status, while also writing heating circuit setpoints, operating modes, and DHW targets. On systems with multiple heating circuits or solar thermal, each circuit's mode and setpoint is independently controllable.

DIN-rail panel meters connect via Modbus RTU over RS-485, while compact inline meters use Wi-Fi HTTP — both providing real-time power demand and cumulative energy tracking. Bidirectional models separately count imported and exported energy per phase, making them well suited for solar and grid monitoring. Some models combine energy metering with relay switching, allowing TapHome to monitor and control the metered circuit simultaneously.

Gateway (4)
Gateway modules serve as diagnostic and discovery layers for proprietary heating and HVAC bus systems. They monitor bus connection health, protocol daemon status, and error registers, and for multi-unit HVAC systems perform an automatic discovery scan to identify all connected indoor unit types. These modules do not expose controllable devices themselves — control is provided by separate device-specific templates imported after discovery.
Heat pump (17)
Monitor supply and return water temperatures, control heating/cooling modes and DHW setpoints, and track compressor status. Most heat pumps connect via Modbus RTU through a manufacturer-specific gateway (Daikin DCOM-LT/MB, NIBE MODBUS 40, Viessmann Vitogate 300), while some support direct Modbus TCP or RS-485 connection. Advanced templates include weather curve control, multi-zone heating, energy metering, and refrigerant cycle diagnostics.

Inverter (15)
Solar inverters connect to TapHome via Modbus TCP or Modbus RTU, providing real-time AC power output, cumulative energy production, per-string DC power, and inverter operating state. Connection uses a built-in data manager, a Wi-Fi dongle, or a direct RS-485 cable — with no additional gateway hardware required. Where supported, TapHome can also write active power derating and reactive power compensation setpoints directly to the inverter.

Water leak sensors connect to TapHome via MQTT, which suits their battery-powered design — the device sleeps between events and only publishes data when water is detected. TapHome maps the flood alarm state and additionally tracks ambient temperature and battery level. A single template instance can cover multiple sensors, each distinguished by its own MQTT topic.

Smart plugs connect over local Wi-Fi using HTTP, requiring no additional hardware or cloud account. TapHome provides on/off relay control alongside real-time power and cumulative energy metering, with the plug's internal temperature exposed as a service attribute for overheating detection.
